Areas of Expertise
Gastroscopy
A gastroscopy is a procedure where a thin, flexible camera (endoscope) is passed through the mouth into the oesophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine. It allows your doctor to:
- Look for ulcers, inflammation, or bleeding
- Take biopsies (small tissue samples) if needed
- Treat conditions such as bleeding or narrowing
The procedure is usually done under sedation, so you won’t feel discomfort.
Colonoscopy
A colonoscopy uses a flexible camera passed through the rectum to examine the colon (large bowel). It helps detect and treat:
- Polyps (small growths that can become cancerous)
- Inflammation (colitis, Crohn’s disease)
- Bleeding, diverticulosis, or unexplained abdominal symptoms
Sedation is given to keep you comfortable.
Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
An endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) helps doctors treat diseases in and around the digestive tract. It combines two kinds of technology: Endoscopy, which uses a thin, flexible tube with a camera and a light on the end. Ultrasound, which uses high-frequency sound waves to create detailed pictures of internal organs.
Fibroscans
A FibroScan is a quick, painless test that measures how stiff or elastic your liver is. It uses ultrasound technology to check for scarring (fibrosis) or hardening (cirrhosis) of the liver. It is an alternative to a liver biopsy and is commonly used in conditions such as hepatitis, fatty liver disease, and alcohol-related liver damage.
